Xunaa in Tlingit translates to Hoonah. Xunaa is a traditional Tlingit community on Chichagof Island. Xunaa clans originally settled in what is now Glacier Bay National Park as well as Icy Strait. Rapid glacial advancement in Glacier Bay and landslide, the result of a tsunami in Lituya Bay forced the Xunaa Tlingit’s from their traditional homelands.
