Mary Ann Turner
Mary Ann Turner, beloved mother, grandmother, wife, and friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on April 30, 2026, at the age of 87. Mary was born in Hydaburg in Southeast Alaska on August 7, 1938 to Erma and John Lawrence. She attended school in Ketchikan and later attended Sheldon Jackson High School in Sitka. Mary met the love of her life, Allen Turner in Holy Cross. The two were married in Fairbanks in 1958. Together they raised six children - Gary, Doreen, Yvonne, Allen Jr. Dwayne, and Lana - while living in Bethel, where many cherished family memories were made. in 1990, Mary and Allen moved to Anchorage. Mary was known for her strength, warmth, humor, and deep love for her family. She had a playful spirit and always made those around her feel loved and welcomed. Her family will forever remember her kindness, her beautiful smile and her love for wearing hats and scarves. Mary loved God and carried her faith with her throughout her life. She was preceded in death by her husband, Allen Turner; her two sons, Gary Turner and Allen Turner Jr; her parents, Erma and John Lawrence; and her brother, Herbert Lawrence. Mary leaves behind her children, Doreen, Yvonne, Dwayne, and Lana; her 67 grandchildren; her many great-grandchildren; extended family; and many loved ones who will continue to honor her memory and carry her love forward through future generations. She was especially proud of her large family and loved every moment spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
