Job Summary:

The President of Sealaska Corporation is responsible for the overall administration which includes the departments of communications, shareholder services, and legal and corporate secretary, special projects and overall corporate office management, focusing on the achievement of its mission. This executive role requires exceptional leadership, strategic thinking, and communication skills to effectively engage with diverse partners, stakeholders, and shareholders. The president will work collaboratively with the CEO, CFO, the board, and executive team members to drive the success of the corporation.
Responsibilities:
• Leads and serves as the face of the company in the region through public policy advocacy and public relations related to cultural, shareholder, and land-related topics.
• Partners and builds alignment with local entities and agencies across the region in an impactful way that genuinely uplifts people and communities.
• Leading and motivating the executive team and employees, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
• Develop and implement strategies, plans, and objectives that impact the lives of shareholders and local communities through economic opportunity investments in the region.
• Act as the primary contact between the company’s board and other ANCSA organizations and keeps the board informed of activities/direction/strategies.
• Identifies and partners with others that share similar objectives, to bring disparate efforts together, broadening the reach and effectiveness of combined/aligned efforts in the region.
• Engages with the Sealaska Heritage Institute, Spruce Root, AFN and other regional partners.
Qualifications:
• Preference given to a Sealaska shareholder
• Has demonstrated expertise in leading, designing, implementing, and measuring successful social programs in disparate, rural areas struggling with inadequate resources.
• Has built consensus and alignment among competing interests to drive support for plans and initiatives, as well as carry them out.
• Has demonstrated experience linking disparate groups that share common goals and leveraging combined resources to develop programs that measurably improved lives and strengthened communities.
• Has personal, familial, or professional experience in overcoming significant geo-political and/or socio-economic challenges that can serve as an inspiration to those who aspire to do the same.
• Is transparent, intuitive, ambitious, curious, deliberate, entrepreneurial, empathetic, assertive, confident, collaborative, willing to listen, open to change and challenge, forthright, truthful, and passionate about doing the right thing.

Physical Demands:
• Must be able to perform computer-based tasks ad processing up to 8 hours, including sitting or standing, mousing, interacting with information on a computer monitor.

Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee will primarily work in an office setting. The noise level in the work environment is usually minimal.
