Job Title: SHI - Education Project Assistant - Literacy Programs
Job Summary:
Under the direct supervision of the Assistant Education Director, this position is responsible for providing administrative support for the Education Department’s Language, Literacy and Professional Development division.
Duties/Responsibilities
• Maintain documentation of people served and other necessary data collection for reporting purposes.
• Support the coordination of all travel related to various programs
• Support the planning and coordination of summer and spring break camps and programming.
• Support multiple teams within the division in the coordination of purchasing supplies, organizing resources, inventory of resources, distribution and shipping of supplies and resources and follow our finance tracking for purchases.
• Organizes and prioritizes large volumes of information and incoming inquiries, emails, and phone calls.
• Schedules and organizes complex activities, such as meetings, conferences, and department activities, supporting program managers and the assistant director in management of their calendars
• Maintains Literacy Program files, digital and hard copies, which could include photocopying, scanning and shredding
• Drafts correspondence for Education Department when necessary.
• Responsible for driving educators and/or students to and from programming.
• Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills:
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to work well on own initiative and within a team.
• Proficient in computer applications, including word processors, spreadsheets, database software, and online survey applications.
• Highly organized, self-motivated, and attentive to details.
• Knowledge of Alaska Native cultures.
Supervisory Responsibility:
This position will have no direct reports.
Work Environment
This position’s duties are performed at the Walter Soboleff Building. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, scanners and office mailing equipment.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to verbally communicate. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move objects up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 50 pounds.
About this Role
This is a full-time benefited position. SHI employees are expected to work during SHI’s regular business hours of 8:00am to 4:30pm Monday to Friday. Additionally, many employees may work up to 45 hours per week or additional time as needed to meet workload demands or special events such as Celebration.
Required
Education and Experience:
• High School Diploma
• One year of administrative experiences or equivalent office experiences.
• Must have a valid driver’s license.

Hourly Rate Range: $20.51 - $25.64
