Alaska Special Election Virtual Information Session Recap

Sealaska aims to help provide shareholders with useful information on how to vote for the upcoming Primary Election in Alaska. Regardless of whom you vote for, Sealaska seeks to deliver all shareholders with needed materials to make voting accessible.
A virtual information session hosted by Sealaska provided a information on the upcoming Alaska special election and the primary for November’s general election, both of which will take place on August 16.
Executive Director Michelle Sparck of Get Out the Native Vote and Jason Grenn with Alaskans for Better Elections provided nonpartisan information on the new voting system in Alaska and how ranked choice voting will work for the upcoming elections. Sparck and Grenn emphasized the importance of a correctly filled ballot along with ways to get involved. Last election many rural communities suffered having anywhere from 10-20% of ballots rejected due to incorrectly filled ballots.

In-person voting will take place on Tuesday, August 16, 2022.
If you choose to engage in ranking, you’re in the poll again, you’re in that polling booth again choosing between the next top highest numbered candidates. So even if you thought you didn’t want this person as your representative or senator or governor or whatever, you have a choice between these two other higher preforming candidates.”
An informed voter is a good voter.
Being informed and feeling confident on how to fill out your ballot correctly is a great start. And when you feel confident and you know how; we just encourage people to spread that information and news to friends, family, coworkers, and neighbors.

Sealaska Seeking Applicants for President

It is important that we find the right candidate to fill this position, which is why the Sealaska board of directors is being as exacting as possible as we search for a candidate capable of amplifying the impact of our mission and providing benefits that empower our shareholders. To this end, the Sealaska board of directors recently revised the job description for the position of president and sought the assistance of a professional recruiting firm. Our hope is to announce a successful candidate as our new president this coming summer.

Posted 5/12/2025Shareholders, an error occurred when printing proxy cards regarding the number of shares you own and votes you have in the top right corner of your proxy card. This error does not affect the validity of your paper proxy, nor does it affect voting on MySealaska.com through the Election Connection portal
Early Bird Deadline Extended
Posted 5/12/2025After considering the recently announced U.S. Postal Service delays to First-Class Mail in conjunction with a paper proxy error leading shareholders who wish to vote by mail to potentially wait for their regularly scheduled second proxy mailing, we have made the decision to extend the early bird deadline to June 6. We are listening to shareholders and want to give everyone the best chance to qualify as an early bird. Thank you for understanding and thank you for voting.
