Next Steps Regarding Alaska Native Vietnam Veterans Land Allotment Act
Monday, July 22, 2019

On March 12, 2019, the Alaska Native Vietnam Veterans Land Allotment Act was approved via the Dingell Act. Alaska Native Vietnam era veterans who served between August 5, 1964, and December 31, 1971, are eligible to apply for a land allotment. The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) has established a website with additional details and FAQs, found at this link.
Before applications can be accepted by BLM, the new law requires that within 180 days of enactment, the Department of Defense, in coordination with the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), prepare a list of potential applicants based on their service dates. If you believe that you are eligible under the act, please update your address with the Bureau of Indian Affairs and the Department of Veterans Affairs.
