Sealaska hosted a virtual candidate’s forum on Monday, May 8 to introduce shareholders to the seven candidates running for four open seats on the Sealaska Board of Directors. The candidates answered a series of questions related to the company’s business performance and the priorities each candidate will focus on if elected. One of the few remaining birth speakers of the Northern Haida dialect of Xaad kíl, Jane Kristovich (K’ujúuhl), joined her ancestors on August 18, 2021 at the age of 93. Sealaska supports the Sitka Tribe of Alaska (STA) taking legal action against the Alaska State Fish and Game in response to its recently published 2019 herring harvest guidelines.
