Sealaska Heritage Institute (SHI) invites interested candidates to apply for a vacancy on the SHI Board of Trustees (BOT).
Sealaska Heritage Institute is governed by a nine-member Board of Trustees, who are members of the Tlingit, Haida, and Tsimshian tribes and who provide policy direction and fiscal and programmatic oversight to ensure that SHI carries out its mission efficiently and responsibly.
Interested applicants shall provide a letter of interest outlining the following:
- Reasons why candidate is interested in serving on the BOT;
- Cultural affiliation and identification (Tlingit, Haida, Tsimshian);
- Expertise and experience; and
- Include a resume no longer than two pages.

Sealaska shareholders approved a resolution to establish a settlement trust for Sealaska by a margin greater than three to one during the election that concluded Saturday, June 26. Former Sealaska intern now administers Sealaska’s carbon program. “As an intern, I was part of a team that included the U.S. Forest Service and Hoonah Indian Association,” said Mitch. “Together, we conducted stream surveys to identify fish passage obstacles for Coho salmon in areas surrounding Hoonah.” One hundred years from now, Mitch Haldane’s work will be part of Sealaska’s past.
