In-Person Juneau Community Meeting Canceled, Event to be Held Virtually Instead
Monday, May 23, 2022

Sealaska announced Monday, May 23 that the Juneau Community Meeting scheduled to be held Wednesday, May 25 at Centennial Hall in Juneau will now take place as a virtual event only due to rising cases of COVID-19 in Juneau.
The City and Borough of Juneau recently updated its recommendations to include indoor masking in Juneau among other precautions as cases doubled from the previous week’s case count. The Community Case Rate in Juneau is now more than 774 per 100,000 residents, putting it in the highest-risk category tracked by the State of Alaska. The data do not include widely available home tests, which means the rate is presumably higher than that.
“It is with a sense of deep responsibility for the health and wellbeing of our people and communities that we’ve made the difficult decision to cancel the in-person component of this meeting,” said Sealaska President and CEO Anthony Mallott.
Sealaska held three in-person community meetings over the past 10 days in Anchorage and Seattle. At those meetings, attendees were required to show proof of vaccination at the door, have their temperatures checked and wear masks when not eating or drinking.
“As has been the case throughout this two-year pandemic experience, circumstances change quickly and we must adapt,” Mallott said. “It is our hope that with a little extra caution this week we can contribute to a safe and healthy community environment for Celebration 2022 and our Annual Meeting of Shareholders in June.”
The Juneau Community Meeting will now be held online only and will be available to shareholders through the MySealaska.com portal. Door prizes will be drawn from the names of all who log in during the meeting.

To this end, the Sealaska board of directors recently revised the job description for the position of president and sought the assistance of a professional recruiting firm. Our hope is to announce a successful candidate as our new president this coming summer.
After considering the recently announced U.S. Postal Service delays to First-Class Mail in conjunction with a paper proxy error leading shareholders who wish to vote by mail to potentially wait for their regularly scheduled second proxy mailing, we have made the decision to extend the early bird deadline to June 6. We are listening to shareholders and want to give everyone the best chance to qualify as an early bird. Thank you for understanding and thank you for voting.
