Sealaska Seeks Qualified Shareholder to Run for Board Election

Sealaska is looking for qualified shareholders to run as board-endorsed nominees for the 2019 board election. There will be four positions up for election during the 2019 Annual Shareholder meeting. The board-endorsed candidates will most likely include a mix of incumbents and non-incumbents. The Board of Directors will make a final determination at the end of March.
Interested shareholders must submit a statement of interest and resume to the Corporate Secretary by Thursday, February 14, 2019 by 5pm AKST.

A memorial totem pole honoring Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls and Two Spirits (MMIWG2S) was recently raised near Klawock. One of the few remaining birth speakers of the Northern Haida dialect of Xaad kíl, Jane Kristovich (K’ujúuhl), joined her ancestors on August 18, 2021 at the age of 93. Over the summer of 2019, Sealaska pledged $500,000 in support of the Alaska Native landless communities of Southeast and their continued push for their own village corporations in their communities. Sealaska supports the Sitka Tribe of Alaska (STA) taking legal action against the Alaska State Fish and Game in response to its recently published 2019 herring harvest guidelines.
